Can Soviet students work?
That question probably concerns full-time students or day college students as we call them. Those who take evening or correspondence college courses combine their studies with a full-time job. As far as day students are concerned, there is no law against their working, but they have a tight schedule which leaves them little free time. Attendance of college lectures and other studies is obligatory.
Some students do take part-time jobs. They are mostly married and need more money than is provided for by the grant. Working during summer vacations is another matter. More about that in our answer to the next question.
